The already-impressive Toyota RAV4 lineup is about to get another upgrade when the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, a high-performance PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid), arrives at dealerships like San Francisco Toyota later this year. The RAV4 Prime is the most powerful RAV4 yet, using a modified version of the RAV4 Hybrid’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine that is paired with electric motors. The engine alone produces 176 horsepower, but when you add the electric power, the RAV4 Prime delivers a total output of 302 horsepower. It is also projected to go from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 5.8 seconds, which is tops among the Toyota four-door lineup. Even with that kind of power and speed, it remains efficient. The RAV4 Prime is projected to achieve an EPA-estimated 90 combined MPGe (miles per gallon electric equivalent). Plus, it is expected to have a driving range of 39 miles on its battery alone after a full charge, which is the highest EV range of any of the PHEV SUVs that are available today.
You’ll have a choice between two trims in the 2021 RAV4 Prime lineup: SE and XSE. Both models are equipped with all-wheel drive and boast loads of top-notch features. Heated front seats, a seven-inch multi-information display, an eight-inch touchscreen central infotainment system display with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, and Amazon Alexa integration are just a few of the standard features. Upgrading to the XSE grade will get you a two-tone exterior paint option, paddle shifters, a moonroof, ambient lighting, Qi-wireless phone charging, Audio Plus with a nine-inch touchscreen display, and more.
This is just a taste of what’s on the way, and we are excited to welcome it here on our lot.
